May 6 Moon Goddess’ Current Phase

The Moon will be in a Waxing Gibbous phase. This phase is when the moon is more than 50% illuminated but not yet a Full Moon. The phase lasts round 7 days with the moon becoming more illuminated each day until the Full Moon. During a Waxing Gibbous the moon will rise in the east in mid-afternoon and will be high in the eastern sky at sunset. The moon is then visible though most of the night sky setting a few hour before sunrise. The word Gibbous first appeared in the 14th century and has its roots in the Latin word “gibbosus” meaning humpbacked.

Full Solar Eclipse on the New Moon- July 2nd 2019

Since the beginning of time humans have been in awe with this celestial phenomenon.

For a Witch such an astrological event is filled with energetic and magical potential. A total eclipse is a powerful “Alchemical Wedding”. It is the sacred union between the Sun- Helios (The solar King) and the Moon-Selene (The Luna Mother).

In such an occurrence, the total eclipse only occurs during the Moons first phase, that is on the day of the New Moon.

The New moon signifies important beginnings and endings, one that conjures energetic growth. At this time it is idea to:

  • Cleanse and purify the home and the self
  • Let go of what is restricting you
  • Make room for the new

This is truly an event that induces metamorphosis to bring forward the new you.

Take the time to go within and be still, clear any doubts and fears that might be holding you back in moving forward.

Set up you altar for the Moon Goddess and the Sun God and honour their union. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Eclipse Blessings to you!

A Meteor Struck the Moon During Sunday’s Total Eclipse

It may be the first time that such an event was documented from Earth

The “super blood wolf moon” that lit up the night sky on Sunday marked the rare convergence of three lunar events: the January full moon, known as a “wolf moon,” appeared especially large because it was positioned unusually close to Earth, hence the “super,” and a total lunar eclipse caused the celestial body to glow a deep crimson—or “blood” red, if you will. While this spectacular phenomena was ongoing, yet another special event occurred: a meteor collided with the moon and sparked a powerful flash that could be seen from Earth.

According to Scientific American’s Nadia Drake, this may mark the first time that a meteor strike has been observed during a total lunar eclipse. On the night of the super blood wolf moon, a Reddit user reported seeing the flash on multiple webcasts, and social media was soon filled with images and input from other people who said they caught the meteor collision. Eventually, Jose Maria Madiedo, an astronomer at Spain’s University of Huelva, confirmed on Twitter that the “impact flash has been recorded by telescopes operating in the framework of MIDAS Survey from Europe.
