From January’s bold red garnets to the speckled blue bands of December’s turquoise stones, there are any number of magical uses for the traditional birthstones. If you have any of these on hand – whether it’s your birth month or not – why not incorporate them into spellwork and rituals? Let’s get started!

What Moon Phase Were You Born Under?

ach of us has a certain personality trait depending on which phase the moon was in at the time of birth. People born during certain lunar phases tend to share certain attributes with others born during this time. Knowing which phase you were born under can give you valuable insight into your character, emotions, behavior and motivation in life. It can make you aware of you deepest underlying drives, the fundamental purpose that you feel you have in life, and the contribution that you can make to society at large during the course of your lifetime. Armed with this knowledge, you can begin to understand your responses, and then attune yourself to a personal cyclical pattern that you go through each and every month.

First, you need to find your lunar birth phase. This is the phase that the moon was in at the time of your birth.

Just type in your birthdate, and it will give you a picture of the moon on that day. You may have to do a little figuring to determine which phase it is…..if you find it hard to determine from this site, you may want to check with a chart to make sure.

Remember that the moon stays in each phase for three and one-half days. Let’s say that you find a chart that shows when the moon begins each phase, but doesn’t give the phase for a specific day. It’s not that hard to calculate which phase your birthday falls into. Find the phase closest to your date of birth. The day given will be the FIRST day of that lunar phase.

Count that as Day One. Then count two and one-half days after that. If your birthday falls within that group, then that is your lunar phase. If it falls BEFORE that lunar phase date, then you should check the lunar phase right before that one….you should fall within those three and one-half days. I know it sounds a little complicated, but it’s really pretty simple!

What about those whose birthday falls on a day when the moon is moving out of one phase into the other? You may want to consult a chart and use your time of birth to determine exactly what phase you are in, but you may find you share characteristics of both phases…sort of like those whose sun sign falls on the cusp of the zodiac.

There are eight personality types to correspond with eight lunar phases:

Sun Astroligical SIgns and Their Cooresponding Element

Each of the twelve Sun signs correspond to one of the four basic elements of nature. Usually you feel most drawn to the element that you are born under and can work with it the easiest when doing spells and/or rituals. Those born on the cusp (three days either side of the changing from one astrological house to the next) have the advantage of having two elements they may work with well and/or drawn to. Many time though those born on the cusp feel more drawn to the sign their birth date falls closer to, for example someone born May 21st is on the cusp of Taurus and Gemini may feel a pull more towards Taraus which is Earth then Gemini which is Air or a combination of both.

Chinese Astrology Overview

Chinese Zodiac Signs

The Chinese zodiac, also known as the Sheng xiao in Chinese, relates each year to an animal and its alleged traits, according to a 12-year cycle. Besides China and Taiwan, it has wide following in several East Asian countries. The main focus of this page is to study the Chinese zodiac signs and what do they stand for.

The Chinese zodiac bears several similarities to the Western zodiac. In both, the time cycles are divided into 12 parts, with each part labeled with the names of animals. Each of these Chinese zodiac signs, like its western counterpart, is widely connected with a culture of influence of a person’s relationship to the cycle, according to their personality and events in their life. However, there are certain major differences between the Chinese zodiac horoscope and the western. The Chinese zodiac has the 12-part cycle divided into years rather than months. Some of the zodiac signs in the Western forms are not represented by animals, for example the inanimate balance scale “Libra”.

The Chinese zodiac signs of twelve animals stand for twelve different types of personality. The Chinese zodiac year traditionally starts with the sign of the Rat. Given below are the twelve Chinese zodiac signs in order and their characteristics:

An Overview Of Astrology

Definition Of Astrology

Astrology is a system for interpreting the positions of celestial bodies, primarily the Sun, the Moon, and the planets, as they move through an area of the sky called the zodiac. Astrology is a model for describing all that exists on Earth, particularly human personality and experience.

Tropical Astrology

In the Western world, most astrologers use a type of astrology called tropical astrology, which is based on the Earth’s four seasons. Each year, the first day of spring (the vernal equinox) marks the beginning of the tropical zodiac.
