Now in the previous series of ‘There is no Time Like the Present’ I mentioned how healing was so important in this day and age and especially in this climate. Take your time with these words, I have found ways to add them in my ceremonies, in my journeying and in my mediation practices. Help these words come alive by remembering. Feel free to click on the above link for more of an insight on this series.

Today I will briefly be remembering the word that helps us release and realize our restrictive behaviors and that is:

  1. Control– There is no time like the present environment to practice doing this. In this time and climate the situation of life is really out of our control. It has sent many people in a spin and in a space of uncertainty.

True control comes from finding a balance within and knowing how to create that balance. This always reminds me of the serenity prayer, of what true strength is, knowing how to find peace within by not controlling the things that are out of your control, to accept what cannot be changed, to find the strength to change the things you can and to have the wisdom to know the difference.

Such practices take a great deal of self-compassion, self-confidence and patience. If you are to flourish in this astringent environment, now is the time to look at your restricting and limiting attitudes. Look at what is causing you emotional neediness, what is causing you insecurities, what, who and why have you become emotionally and mentally attached or become dependent to. Encourage steadiness and patience to promote clear thinking. Try to look through the eyes of the world, as what you may be experiencing now may not be very different to what everyone else is going through.

Self-control allows one to be an observer of a situation, don’t try and control it, just try to observe it, allowing it to unfold as you go. Detach from the situation that is causing so much distress, it’s what the Buddhists call non-attachment. It is through this practice that you will find the ultimate inner peace!

Affirmation:

Self-control guide my emotions and as a result I celebrate inner peace
