Fairies From all Around the World

Over time I have come to understand that we each connect to these beings in such different ways. They are born from the world around us at the time, and connect us to the ethereal.  Some are anthropomorphic, meaning they take human form, some in animal form, some as angels, others take their element form and yet others are all one and the same.

Throughout our childhood they are our spirit guardians and help us see through the veil that has been hung by our modern day adults.

As children we naturally accept what is around us as fact, therefore we engage in play, conversation and even moments of soothing with these beings. In some cultures with ancient origins such beings are encouraged by adults as they sever as protectors for their children. The children then take these guardians into their adult life that protect them till their final days.

As adults in modern day wester cultures we are encouraged to live in what is perceived as “reality”.  A reality that earns money, keeps house, has a family and a solid social network of other people who are also living a reality, that help us keep our reality in check. When someone says to you “Have you done a Reality check lately”? All their trying to say is: are you comparing your life to someone else’s? If it is not on someone else’s track then you better start changing.

This reality which we willingly accept throughout adulthood is what keeps us confined, keeps us chained, keeps us enslaved to this perception of how we need to be, what we need to do and how we need to act.

As soon as an adult experiences moments of visions relating to these beings, modern western society deals with it through medication.  Suppressing their imagination and calling it delusion. In cultures that still hold on to their ancient roots, a child or young adult with such “delusions” would be sent to the local medicine man not to be treated for his illness but to be trained as a Shaman for his gift!

Fairies come into our lives as adults for many reasons. One of the main ones I believe is that they allow us to question what belongs to us and what belongs to someone else. A “Reality Check on the reality check”

In other words are you living your own reality or the reality of everyone else around you?

Fairies encourage you to release your true inner being, your own elemental.

They are your true self as they are made of your very own DNA.

You cannot hide anything from them, lie to them or cheat them because you are doing all that to you. If you do, it manifests as disease, illness of the soul and the mind.

These beings are beloved, feared and revered throughout history and all over the world.

Down here the Indigenous Australians of the North have their fairy beings called Mimi and are displayed in cave paintings from more than 40- 60 thousand years ago!

Below is a link referencing fairies from all around the world, all four corners and from new world to ancient.

In Ireland they have my old time favourite the Pooka. This however is not exactly on the cute sweet scale. There is no fairy more feared in Ireland than the Pooka. People’s interpretation of spiritual beings can be varied. Some have the Pooka as a beneficent spirit, one that plays tricks. Take for instance the old classic movie with Jimmy Stewart called “Harvey” in 1950. He befriends with this beneficent spirit that helps him see the true nature of human beings. Meanwhile while Jimmy is very different from the norm, in this movie he is portrayed as crazy because he takes the time to talk to his Pooka. Therefore the Pooka or Pukka is considered to bring both good and bad fortune. It is whatever we perceive it to be. No one can tell us what is real and what isn’t, this is up to us to decide.

In ancient Greece these spirit fairies came as Nymphs. Usually women, very beautiful and ready to draw in any man to them. In fact this is where the word Nymphomaniac came from.

These were elemental beings that were in the water, forest, trees, air, and even fire.

When connecting to your fairy, try connecting to it through a mediation first, indoors, in a forest, in your backyard, anywhere outdoors, with and without music, with dance, instruments, whatever it takes. When you are confident with its presence then begin to research it. In other words allow your inner being to call your Fay in rather than tarnishing your perception of what your fairy is supposed to look like, do and act. Remember they are an extension of you!

Fairies are nothing new, they have been with man since the dawn of time and hold the secrets to the beginning of the universe. Each and every fairy is unique in the most ethereal manner, why because they are part of the universal code, they are a reflection of our very self. We give them the power to appear to us and in return they share the secrets of the universe.

A Little History of Wicca and the Relationship to Fairies

The practice of Wicca was popularized by a retired British civil servant, Gerald Gardner in 1954. It is a belief system set in motion by a reverence for the earth and the natural order of the universe and stems from a secret mystery religion that had existed in secret for hundreds of years.

Often misunderstood and highly villianized by Hollywood as Satanists, witches (in the worst sense, or kooks who communicate with the dark side, sacrifice children, and wreck havoc on their neighbors with the help of black cats and faeries. Wicca simply means “to bend”, and these practitioners, whether solitary or part of a group, want only to be let alone to commune with the earth and forces of nature.

Practitioners of Wicca celebrate and acknowledge the passing of the seasons, remembering a time when all that grew and provided sustenance was determined by simple things such as rainfall and the condition of the soil. There is much more to it than that, but for this article we …

How to Plan a Ritual

By Patti Wigington
Updated March 07, 2017
There are dozens of rituals available here at About Paganism & Wicca, and thousands more available across the vast expanse of the Internet. There are hundreds to be found in books on the subject of Wicca, NeoWicca, Paganism, and witchcraft in general. These rituals make a great template — and certainly, if you’ve never held a ritual on your own, it’s nice to have one already written for you. For many people, an important aspect of the spiritual growth process lies in planning one’s own ritual.

You may find that in planning your own rituals, it helps to follow the same format each time. After all, part of ritual is the concept of repetition. That doesn’t mean you have to speak the same words each time, but if you follow the same general order of things, it will help you become more in tune with the ritual process. Something else to keep in mind is that ritual should be celebratory. That means that it should celebrate something — a Sabbat holiday, a phase of the moon, the change of the seasons, a phase in one’s life. Know what you’re celebrating, and then you’ll know what your focus should be for the rite.

Pagan Portals – Fairy Witchcraft A Neopagan’s Guide to the Celtic Fairy Faith

Many neopagans today are drawn to honor the fairies but find that the modern-day path to Fairy is hidden in mist and shadow. Yet the path is still there, waiting for those who are ready to seek it out. This is a guidebook for those seeking a path that combines modern neopagan witchcraft with the older Celtic Fairy Faith. Topics include basic beliefs and practices, holidays, tools, altar set up, and theology, with the intent of giving the seeker a solid grounding in the basics of modern Fairy Witchcraft.

REVIEWS & ENDORSEMENTS

Can you recognize a fairy cat? Morgan Daimler has interacted with Fairies since she was a small child. She views them three-dimensionally, not as the limited New Age/media-interpreted versions that many of us are familiar with. She sees them as they are with their full range of emotions and motivations. Telling it like it is, she recounts her system of Fairy Witchcraft, based on decades of personal experience. She goes back to the roots of Celtic pagan wisdom to put it all into perspective, but it’s clear that the information she conveys is not from “book learning”. It comes from contact with the Fey Folk themselves. This very personal recollection has a special air of enchantment about it. As one reads, it becomes clear that Daimler not only has personal experience with the Wee Folk, she has been completely charmed by them. She has not, however, been deluded by “pixie-led glamour”. She just likes these…

FAIRIES

The term fairy can be used to describe many types of magical creatures. Most people relate the word fairy to the more ethereal image, the classic fairy with wings and flowing hair. Fairies are human in appearance and they have magical powers, the origin of fairies is the point of much contention as no one can actually say where they originated from.

Fairies are capable of making themselves invisible sometimes, fairies actually fly on the back of birds and they are very in tune with the creatures of the sky. Fairies are very intelligent creatures and their fragility is deceptive, they are actually powerful magicians and very strong mentally and physically.

Children who have imaginary friends are actually talking to fairies, as fairies feel most comfortable with…

Scrying

Lesson 3

Lessons 1 and 2 in the previous posts covered making tools with sacred wood that included wands and runes. It often takes time to prepare such tools in order for one to imbue their magical energies though the object. At times the object will change as the practitioner progresses through their spiritual journey. Remember that nothing is static, where there is energy there is movement, vibration and frequency, this includes all inanimate objects as well.

Lesson 3 will introduce one of the many methods of scrying, divining.

Scrying tools are used to develop ones clairvoyance skills. It assists one to see the past in order to understand the present and give some kind of direction for mastering the future.

Scrying requires concentration and of course an object to focus your mind.

Before you prepare your tool for scrying you may like to make your own scrying incense. Setting the mood by stimulating your senses that also includes your olfactory is important. This all helps to stimulate the penal gland or 3rd eye in order to reach a state of focus, trance or meditation call it what you will.

Scrying incense:

1 part Mugwort

1 part Wormwood

You may even wish to make your own bowl and decorate the bowl with motifs and symbols that correlate to your own belief system. Let your creativity run wild. Just remember that every step of creating whether it is the bowl the incense or the scrying liquid to imbued your own personal energy in it. Take your time in choosing and making your item and allow yourself to connect what it is that you are creating!!

In the next step we will be making the divining liquid.

This should be made during the full moon to give time for the liquid to infuse sufficiently to be used in the 1st quarter.

Please use the reference of the ephemeris of the moon as a guide.

Moon phases for all magical use is important. Please take the time to learn the energies that she gives. A simple and wonderful book to have on hand is “Mansions of the Moon for the Green Witch”. I’ll write a little book review of this at a later stage.

During the Full Moon-

You will need:

Dried herbs that include rose petals, jasmine and hyssop.

Sea salt

A medium clear bottle or jar

Water

Small bowl (not scrying bowl)

Method:

In the small bowl mix the herbs

Add 1 part herb mix to 4 parts water

Stir 3 table spoons of sea salt

Pour the mixture into a jar, cover, in a sunny spot.

Leave it as undisturbed as both the moon and the sunrays energy are hitting it until the last quarter.

During the Last quarter-

During the time of the last quarter, strain the herbs and store the liquid in a jar until ready for use in the 1st quarter.

Effectively just remember the most powerful time to divine is Seven Days after the New Moon which is the first quarter!!!!!

During the First Quarter-

This is the time you use the liquid. It is seven days after the new moon which falls on the first quarter of the moon. I know it doesn’t give you much window to divine, however this is just a guide that has been used by the oracle in ancient times.

Create your mood, place your mind in a space of divining. Use your imagination, wear your favorite gown, jewellery, anoint yourself with your favorite essential oil, jasmine is mine. Divining is a scared time, don’t just use it Willie Nillie.

NOTE:

Who or what is assisting you with allowing you to see and giving you the messages.

Accessing beyond the veil needs preparation, such as placing protection around you, ensuring your mind and surroundings are cleared of clutter and most importantly just like anything become familiar what energy it is that you are drawing this from! Are you calling in the elements, the Gods and Goddesses, other earth spirits, Totems, ancestors, spirits beyond this earth or simply Mother Earth her self?

Remember that the energy around you is something that you allow in, nothing comes if it is not called or conjured! If you are not familiar with personal protection, please do a quick Coven Life or general web search on such methods and choose what you resonate with.

Yes, this does all sound time consuming, however everything has a time and place. Learning timing and patience is part of understanding your magical practice. Revering the seasons and following the earth’s rhythms is essential for any spiritual practice and finally learning to protect yourself even if it is just using divination.

Once again use your intuition and allow yourself to connect as you please. There is no right or wrong. You choose as you please and what makes you most comfortable!

The timing of this suggested method of scrying was taken from an academic extract called “Portrait of a Priestess” by Connelly, that described actual events and practices of the ancient priests and priestess in antiquity namely in the temple of Delphi used by the Pythia.  A wonderful academic read, well researched and accredited throughout the epistemological arena it offers an insight of how humans throughout history have moved with the earth’s rhythms.

Entrench yourself in the energy and see what you yourself discover. You may even find a better method that suits you. Just remember to be in the flow of that energy around you. Learn how to navigate the sky, read the seasons and feel the pulse of the earth and her energy meridians. This is how humanity has always done and will continue to do it. Why? BECAUSE IT WORKS!
